Participants will learn about Katmai National Park’s annual “Fat Bear Week” competition and how to use that to teach civics. Using Fat Bear Week, students can practice having constructive conversations, researching candidates, making informed votes, and voting with ballots. Students will also learn about survival strategies of bears in Alaska! Participants will leave with a bundle of resources! Geared toward upper elementary (3-5) but open to anyone.
